‘Furiosa' Is a Box Office Dud, Adding to Hollywood Woes

Hollywood had high expectations for the film ‘Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga’ but it fell short at the box office over the holiday weekend. Despite premiering at the Cannes Film Festival and receiving exceptional reviews, the film only collected $25.6 million in the United States and Canada. With a production cost of $168 million, ‘Furiosa’ was expected to bring in about $31 million over the weekend, but it ended up being the worst Memorial Day weekend result in 43 years. Sony’s ‘Garfield’ was predicted to claim the top spot at the box office.
