Wildersmoor House in Great Falls, with its mansion, equestrian facilities and man-made lake, hits the market
The estate, which includes a main house, guest house, pool house, and tennis court, is being listed for $8.9 million.

Wildersmoor House is a Great Falls estate that spans 17.3 acres of secured land, has its own quarter-acre artificial lake, stables, and a 27,000 square-foot mansion. It will be available for the very first time.
Daniel Heider, of TTR Sotheby's International Realty has listed the property located at 9351 and 9401 Cornwell Farm Drive. The listing promises that the property is a "unique blend of accessibility and privacy" and only 25 minutes away from the Reagan National and Dulles International Airports. This property is located just a few minutes' walk from the Great Falls Visitor Center and is listed for $17.995million.
The property has been assembled and developed over the past 25 years by Ian Landy and Karen Landy. The former founded Sterling's Lightspeed International Inc. - a tech company acquired by Cisco in 1997 for $160,000,000 in stock.
The home has eight bedrooms, 11 full bathrooms and five half-baths. It is reached by a three-quarters-mile drive which ends in a motor court. The facade of the home features cast stone columns, gothic window frames, and handmade bricks. An 'imposing arch door' made from Honduran Mahogany is also featured. The front door leads to a reception room with French limestone flooring. A cascading staircase is adorned with custom Elizabeth Eakins carpets, and it opens up to an octagonal rooflight.
The home has a "sophisticated gentleman’s library," a formal dining room, a circular kitchen designed by Johnny Grey, an indoor swimming pool pavilion, a separate wing with a second-level suite, a fireplace that can be used both indoors and outdoors, and two bathrooms, each with a built-in dressing area. The lower level also has a billiards area, a wine cellar, a screening room, and secluded apartment with direct access to the outdoors.
The house is equipped with an automatic elevator, a whole-house generator and a 36-zone irrigation system. It also has a 16-zone HVAC system, power drapes for seven rooms, 3 laundry facilities, 5 chimneys, 11 masonry fire places, 12 garage spaces, and three laundries. The $260,000 Lutron system includes 197 keypads, 100 speakers and a whole host of other features.
The koi-fish-stocked lake is outside, along with a dock, fountain, six-stalls stables, three pastures and a sand-training arena. The listing states that a conservation easement prohibits future development. However, there is still room for outdoor features like a tennis or swimming pool.
