The Dallas Mavericks and New Orleans Pelicans are leaving their local regional sports networks. Both teams terminated their deals with Diamond Sports, the largest owner of regional sports networks, currently under bankruptcy protection. The teams are exploring new ways to broadcast their local games in the upcoming NBA season. Last season, the Pelicans aired games on Gray Television’s local stations, while the Mavericks had an agreement with Tegna’s Dallas-Fort Worth stations. Several NBA, WNBA, and NHL teams have left regional sports networks for local broadcasters. Diamond Sports will receive repayments from the Mavericks and Pelicans as part of the terminations. The company is entering broadcast and streaming rights agreements with the NBA and NHL as part of its bankruptcy process.
