In North Carolina, a fortunate day awaited a local master carpenter at a convenience store. On a regular visit, he stumbled upon a $20 bill in the parking lot and decided to purchase a lottery ticket. To his amazement, the ticket, an Extreme Cash scratch-off, won him $1 million.

Although the ticket he originally intended to buy was unavailable, the alternative choice turned out to be extremely lucky. Opting for a lump sum payout, he received $600,000, which after taxes amounted to $429,007.

This windfall has allowed him to plan for retirement after 56 years of work, with intentions to assist his children financially. In celebration, he joyfully declared plans to indulge at a local restaurant, expressing excitement over a feast to mark his lucky win.

In an earlier report, a slight error in the spelling of a location was noted and has since been corrected.
